I specialize in working with clients experiencing acute or chronic health problems, health anxiety, or chronic pain that impacts their quality of life. Some of my clients come to me with new diagnoses, wondering how their life will change and what this means for their future. Some of my clients have chronic health conditions and need support managing the daily impact. If you have concerns related to health, pain, sleep, or navigating medical care, I can help.

I also have extensive experience working in shelters, state hospital, and prison environments. I am skilled at working with acute mental health needs, and I have specialization in working with intense anxiety, anger, PTSD, panic, alcohol or substance use, and psychosis.

My clinical work integrates evidence-based practices, patient preferences, and research. I utilize evidence-based treatments, including CBT, DBT, and ACT. I use variations of CBT to better suit each individual’s needs, such as CBT-I for insomnia, CBT-p for psychosis, and CPT for PTSD. As a therapist, I’m highly empathetic and direct. I want to meet you wherever you’re at to provide a safe, therapeutic space to encourage you towards your goals and to live your life best according to your values. My approach tends to be practical and collaborative, founded on culturally sensitive care that embraces diversity and values all identities.

I’m a first generation Korean and Japanese-American, cisgender woman born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. My experiences growing up have shaped my interest in psychology, and I am drawn to this field so I can help others make sense of their experiences. As a woman of color raised by immigrant parents, I too have grappled with making peace and meaning of my identities and place in the world. In addition to my commitment to serving people of color, I am affirming of all identities, including marginalized sexual orientations, physical and neurological disabilities, and religious diversities. My work is driven by cultural humility, and I aim to acknowledge my own background and work past biases and assumptions.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my rescue dog Kayu, eating food, or watching senseless TV.
